SAYING GOODBYE TO CO-FOUNDER KARINA BAKX

From June 1, we will say farewell to our beloved co-founder/-director Karina Bakx. Together with Ellen de Haan she started het resort in 2018.

We will miss her can-do spirit, her love for going after buildings and spaces, her views on creating new conditions in the arts, her artist-orientated, fun and sharp mind and her limitless ideas for the program.

The farewell really honors the ambition of creating a (then) new and long-lasting art space in Groningen, from which others could take over.

Thanks to her love for reclaiming space het resort became a nomadic art space that uses (semi-)public spaces to reflect on society and create more space for creating and encountering art.

Karina is going to fully focus on her job as co-founder and project leader at Roemte. A foundation that helps entrepreneurial social initiatives from the ground up in Groningen. With her heart set on creating space and good conditions for artists, organizers and initiatives – as seen in other projects she has initiated before; stage for contemporary culture de GYM and empty building projects JOP and ZIP – Roemte is a perfect match. We wish her prosperous times and are happy that she continues to make a difference for social initiatives and the art scene in Groningen.

Ellen de Haan will stay on as director and will be in search of a new co-director.
